Volunteers

Independent Advocacy could not provide the service it does without its committed and enthusiastic volunteers. We currently have over 50 volunteers who provide individual and group support to partners. We are looking for positive, self-motivated people who are looking for a challenge, who have good listening and communication skills and those who can enable vulnerable people to be heard.

Independent Advocates are a group of people who come from a wide variety of backgrounds bringing many skills and a wealth of life experience to their role.

Volunteers receive ongoing training, expenses and regular support from the office based team to assist you in this hugely satisfying work. There are two ½ day trainings a year and local peer support groups are held three times a year. Other trainings are held on a regular basis.

Volunteers are initially required to attend a 7 week training course (3 hours per week) and the next course will start in the New Year (dates to be confirmed).

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
