Become a Volunteer

Independent Advocacy Perth & Kinross could not provide the service it does without its committed and enthusiastic volunteers (Home Based Advocates). We currently have volunteers (Home Based Advocates) who provide support to advocacy partners. We are looking for confident, non-judgemental, positive, self-motivated people who are looking for a challenge, who have good listening and communication skills and those who can enable vulnerable people to be heard.

Independent Advocates are a group of people who come from a wide variety of backgrounds bringing many skills and a wealth of life experience to their role.

Home Based Advocates are asked to carry a small case load and in return receive ongoing training, expenses and regular support from the office-based team to assist them in this hugely satisfying work. There are regular training events throughout the year as well as regular local peer-support groups.

Training courses cover such topics as prejudice and discrimination, self awareness and the importance of boundaries.
